Residents in the Northwest Valley and Summerlin can now request a 7-by-16-foot donation trailer to be placed in their driveways. Goodwill of Southern Nevada began offering the service this month. The program, named HomeDrop, is designed to handle large volumes of household goods that typically do not fit in a standard vehicle.
Once the trailer arrives, donors have 48 hours to load it with items. Acceptable goods include gently used furniture, appliances, clothing, and other household objects. Donors load the trailer at their own pace within that two-day window. After the pickup time expires, Goodwill staff return to remove the trailer and provide a receipt for the donation.
Goodwill states the service targets people who are downsizing, moving, or cleaning out garages and storage units. The organization says the program helps give unwanted items a second life. It also supports job training and employment programs for Southern Nevadans.
The service is currently available in specific ZIP codes across the two areas. Covered locations include 89117, 89128, 89129, 89130, 89131, 89135, 89138, 89143, 89144, 89145, 89147, 89148, 89149, and 89166. Goodwill directs residents to its website for instructions on how to request a trailer.
