The Anti-Defamation League is hosting a sold-out conference at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where 400 attendees will discuss strategies to combat antisemitism in the region.
The event, titled "Rising Above Together," takes place Friday from 9 a.m. To 2:30 p.m. At the UNLV Student Union. Organizers report that the venue is fully booked with community leaders, educators, and law enforcement officials.
The Anti-Defamation League reported 78 antisemitic incidents in Nevada last year. That total included six assaults. The league is using this event to address what it describes as a growing normalization of hate in the state and across the country.
Jolie Brislin, the ADL's Senior Regional Director, saidthat the rise in antisemitism has become visible in news coverage and on social media platforms. She stated that the organization needs to provide practical tools for community members to stand up against these trends.
Brislin emphasized that the responsibility to address the issue does not belong exclusively to the Jewish community. She described the challenge as a societal problem requiring a whole-of-society approach rather than a group-specific one.
The conference agenda includes a dedicated session for the Clark County School District. That session will focus on giving teachers and administrators specific resources to recognize and respond to antisemitism within educational settings. Participants from various backgrounds are expected to leave with materials they can apply in their schools and organizations.
The gathering serves as a direct response to the recent statistics provided by the ADL. It brings together local stakeholders to align on methods for recognizing hate and offering support to those who encounter it.
