The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 10-1 on Monday night at Tropicana Field to take a 3-0 lead in the World Series. The victory moves the franchise one win away from its first championship in history. Milwaukee secured the win through a historic offensive collapse by Tampa Bay and a dominant pitching performance by rookie left-hander Robert Gasser.

The Brewers erupted in the bottom of the fifth inning, scoring eight runs all with two outs. This marked the first time in World Series history that a team has recorded eight two-out runs in a single inning. The rally began when Jackson Chourio stole second base. Christian Yelich followed with a walk to load the bases. Manager Pat Murphy noted the offensive surge was a major lift for the team.

Brice Turang ignited the scoring barrage with a two-run single off the glove of shortstop Taylor Walls. Garrett Mitchell added an RBI single, and Cooper Pratt grounded a two-run double down the left-field line. Sal Frelick finished the inning with a run-scoring double, making the score 8-0. The Brewers then added two more runs in the sixth inning to close the game 10-1.

Gasser delivered the best pitching performance of the series for Milwaukee. The rookie left-hander allowed only one hit and faced the minimum 18 batters through six innings. He became the first starter to face the minimum in a World Series game since Curt Schilling in 2001. Gasser also became the first left-hander to achieve this feat since Sandy Koufax in 1965. He struck out two batters and walked one.

Jackson Chourio finished the game with four hits, a double, and a stolen base. He became the second-youngest player in World Series history to record four hits and a stolen base in a single game. The 22-year-old outfielder has collected eight hits across the first three games of the series. Manager Murphy compared Chourio's discipline to Kobe Bryant, a comparison the player embraced.

The Rays, who led the American League with 98 wins in the regular season, fell victim to uncharacteristic defensive and baserunning errors. Tampa Bay has never won a World Series in its 29 seasons. The team now faces elimination in Game 4, scheduled for Tuesday night. Of the 43 previous teams to fall behind 3-0 in a best-of-seven postseason series, only the 2004 Boston Red Sox have come back to win the series.

Tampa Bay manager Kevin Cash acknowledged the difficulty of the situation but expressed confidence in his team's ability to win tomorrow. The Rays will start Griffin Jax in the next game. The Brewers have not yet announced their starting pitcher. A win for Milwaukee would make them the first team to sweep both the League Championship Series and the World Series since the 1976 Cincinnati Reds.

The Brewers entered the series after sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series. They led the National League with 103 wins in the regular season. The team has now won eight straight games, tying the record for a single postseason. The franchise, originally the Seattle Pilots in 1969, moved to Milwaukee in 1970 and has only appeared in two World Series.
