The Kansas City Chiefs are adding Justin Tucker to their practice squad, a source familiar with the decision said on Wednesday. The move gives the 37-year-old kicker another chance in the league after he missed the first 10 games of last season due to a personal conduct suspension.

The signing had not been officially announced by the team when the report broke. Coach Andy Reid is expected to discuss the addition at his weekly news conference later Wednesday.

Tucker spent 13 seasons with the Baltimore Ravens. He built a reputation as one of the NFL's most reliable kickers before his contract ended in controversy. In 2025, 16 massage therapists accused Tucker of sexual misconduct at high-end spas. Tucker called the allegations "unequivocally false" and "tabloid fodder."

The Ravens released Tucker in May of last year. He was not criminally charged or sued in civil court. The NFL suspended him for the first 10 games of the 2025 season. He served that suspension as a free agent and became eligible for reinstatement in November 2025. Tucker later worked out with the New York Jets but did not sign a contract with them.

The Chiefs currently have Harrison Butker on their active roster. Butker has struggled over the last two seasons. Since the start of last year, he has missed 10 field-goal attempts and five extra points. Those numbers are the highest in the league. Butker missed two kicks in Sunday's 20-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Those included four of his last six attempts.

Tucker joins the team to provide competition for the kicking job. He had also missed 10 kicks during the 2024 season before leaving Baltimore. Tucker turns 37 next month.

The signing remains on the practice squad level for now. Butker stays on the active roster while the team evaluates the depth at the position.
