A 32-year-old woman died Saturday night after being struck by a Los Angeles Police Department patrol car in the Valley Glen area. The crash happened near Woodman Avenue and Bessemer Street around 11:30 p.m., according to LAPD Lt. Elpidio Orozco.

Firefighters arrived at the scene and pronounced the woman dead. Orozco stated that no officers in the patrol car were injured. The vehicle belonged to the LAPD's North Hollywood Division and was traveling to the Van Nuys Division to handle an emergency call.

Police were responding to a report of shots fired at a Halloween house party located on Weddington Street in Sherman Oaks. Upon arrival, officers found a crowd of approximately 300 people gathered at the residence. The patrol car had its emergency lights and siren activated at the time of the collision.

An LAPD spokesperson saidthat the woman was outside a marked crosswalk when the vehicle hit her. The crowd at the party was eventually dispersed without injuries7.

The LAPD's Multidisciplinary Collision Investigation Team is investigating the incident. Orozco said the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner will identify the victim once her family is notified.

The woman was 32 years old at the time of her death. The patrol car was part of a backup response to the Halloween event several miles from the crash site.
