The Reflecting Pool at the Lincoln Memorial was declared fully repaired on Monday, according to President Donald Trump. The president traveled from the White House to the site on election eve to showcase the finished work. He stated that the project, completed by the Interior Department over several months, had been vandalized prior to the repairs.
“The people from Interior have been incredible. And the pool is now better and more beautiful than it’s ever been before. And we’re very proud of it,” Trump said. He noted that he had held nearly 30 rallies in the weeks leading up to the visit. The visit served as his final public address before voters cast ballots in the 2026 midterm elections.
Trump described the upcoming vote as the most important in his lifetime. He criticized the Democratic Party for fielding what he called the most extreme and dangerous slate of candidates in American history. “These are the most dangerous candidates ever put up,” he told reporters. He urged voters to choose carefully as they decided which party would control Congress for the next two years.
Pollsters report that the high cost of living is the primary concern for voters this cycle. Trump did not mention that issue during his remarks. Instead, he described the U.S. economy as strong and resilient. He acknowledged that the party in power historically loses seats during midterm elections. Republicans currently hold a slim majority in Congress.
Recent polls indicate a strong performance for Democratic candidates in the 2026 elections. The president and his party hope to defy that historical trend. The election will determine the balance of power in the legislative branch for the coming two years. The Reflecting Pool, a key landmark in Washington, D.C., was the backdrop for his final campaign message.
