The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office stated on Monday that the woman located in Tijuana, Mexico, is believed not to be Shayna Feinman, the 35-year-old Arizona resident missing since March 2024.

Mexican security forces initially reported finding a woman matching Feinman's description in the Encino neighborhood on Oct. 23. They confirmed her identity to local media, but Yavapai County officials initially cited insufficient evidence to independently verify her status.

Feinman's sister, Kara, said she did not recognize the person in Mexico and lacked hard proof that the individual was her sister. Kara described these unconfirmed sightings as disheartening for the family, noting this was not the first time reports of Feinman surfacing with little evidence from law enforcement.

Feinman vanished without a trace on March 9, 2024, while walking to a friend's house. Two men were arrested in connection with her disappearance later that year. Tijuana officials moved the unidentified woman to a safe location to await contact with the Feinman family and U.S. authorities before the new update from Arizona.

The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office updated its investigation after reviewing the case details. Loved ones had held onto hope of her return, but the department now believes the woman in Tijuana is not the missing person.
