Two men involved in separate Las Vegas crashes earlier this month have died, Metro Police said in news releases Tuesday. The department was notified Saturday that a 65-year-old Blue Diamond man, hurt in an Oct. 11 wreck on Blue Diamond Road, had died at UMC hospital.
The man was driving a Nissan Maxima east of Grand Canyon Drive on Blue Diamond Road when it collided head-on with a Mercedes-Benz E-350 traveling the opposite direction. He was taken to UMC at the time with injuries doctors called life-threatening. The Mercedes driver and passenger also went to UMC with injuries that were not life-threatening.
In the second case, Metro said Roland Bame, 75, of Las Vegas, died at UMC Hospital after being notified Thursday. Bame had been walking in the crosswalk on South Torrey Pines Drive north of West Rochelle Avenue when a Honda CR-V traveling on Torrey Pines struck him. Police said the driver did not see Bame and knocked him onto the road. Bame was taken to the hospital with severe injuries. The Honda driver stayed at the scene and was not impaired, police said.
Metro counts these two deaths as the 100th and 101st traffic-related fatalities in its jurisdiction for 2026.
