Senate Democrats have chosen one person to lead their caucus into the next legislative session. Sen. Edgar Flores will serve as majority leader.

Flores is an attorney. His legal career has centered on consumer protection, workers' rights, and immigrant advocacy. The caucus announced his selection in a release on Thursday.

In a statement, Flores addressed the pressure facing the state. He said he is honored by the trust his colleagues placed in him. He noted that working-class Nevadans expect real solutions. He listed specific goals for the new term. These include expanding access to affordable housing and healthcare. He also wants to invest in neighborhood public schools. He aims to ensure the economy works for everyday people.

Flores expressed excitement about moving to Carson City. He plans to work with Assembly colleagues and Governor-elect Aaron Ford. The goal is to build a state where every community has resources to thrive.

The caucus outlined its priorities under Flores' leadership. They will focus on lowering the cost of living. They will strengthen worker protections. They will fully fund schools. They will also expand economic opportunity across the state.

In the coming weeks, Flores and his leadership team will organize committees. They will also finalize the legislative framework for the session.
