Vegas Golden Knights forward Tomas Hertl scored his second goal of the game with 32 seconds remaining in regulation to defeat the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-2 on Tuesday night. The winning strike came shortly after the visitors successfully killed a late five-on-three power play.

This victory marks only the second time in franchise history that the Golden Knights have won a game in Pittsburgh. Hertl tipped a pass from Mark Stone past Penguins goaltender Arturs Silovs to secure the result. The goal was the second power-play tally for Hertl in the contest and the second penalty-kill failure for the Penguins at home.

Pittsburgh forward Tommy Novak scored and recorded an assist during a third-period surge that briefly gave the home team the lead. The Penguins' rally was cut short when Novak was called for tripping just after the teams returned to even strength. That penalty set up the final sequence of play.

The Golden Knights improved their record after a shootout loss in Boston the previous night. Adin Hill stopped 23 shots to earn the win. In contrast, Silovs faced 20 shots for a Pittsburgh team that has now lost seven of its last nine games.

Trevor Connelly tied the score 2-2 with 8:41 remaining via a breakaway goal. That goal came after Novak and Rickard Rakell had erased a one-goal deficit. Sidney Crosby, the Penguins captain, did not record a point in the loss. He remains tied for sixth on the NHL's all-time scoring list with 1,771 points.

The first 40 minutes of the game featured only one goal. Hertl scored in the late first period to give Vegas a 1-0 lead. Mitch Marner provided the assist, extending his point streak to 11 games. This rematch came more than two weeks after the Golden Knights defeated the Penguins in Las Vegas.
