Bruce Hooley bowled a 718 series in the Kings & Queens League last week, securing his first 700 series of the 2026-2027 season. The performance on lanes 5 and 6 at the Virgin River Bowling Center lifted his league average from 196 to 201.
Hooley, a former California Highway Patrol officer, recorded games of 247, 247, and 224 in the three-game set. He is one of only two bowlers from Mesquite who have rolled a 300 game at the Dixie Bowl in St. George, Utah, during the Huntsman World Senior Games. Dave Wheeler is the other local bowler to achieve that mark.
While Hooley’s series stood out for its consistency, Michael Ramirez held the top spot in the week's overall scoring. The two-handed bowler finished with a 773 total, marking games of 279, 247, and 247. Ramirez’s performance placed him above all other competitors in the local league standings for the week.
Jacoby Ford also turned in a strong outing, rolling a 734 series with games of 245, 247, and 241. This result ended a recent period of lower scores for Ford, who was expected to rebound in the coming weeks. His recent form suggests he may roll a 300 game in the near future.

In other men’s action, Clay Ring bowled a 690, Brian Albertie posted a 680, and Barry Campbell recorded a 672 with games of 236, 231, and 205. Tama Hixson recorded her first 500 series of the season with a 517 and her first 200 game with a 204.
