The Las Vegas Raiders travel to East Rutherford, New Jersey, for a Sunday morning game against the New York Jets. The contest kicks off at 10 a.m. Pacific Time at MetLife Stadium. Fans can watch the broadcast on CBS, stream it on Paramount+, or listen to Raider Nation Radio 920 AM.
The Raiders enter the game with a 3-4 record, while the Jets sit at 2-5. New York is a 1.5-point favorite in the betting odds. Both teams have struggled this season, but the matchup presents specific statistical advantages for Las Vegas on the ground.
Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty has recorded 3.1 yards per carry and one touchdown through the season. He has not gained more than 20 yards on a single run. However, the Jets rank 24th in the NFL in rush defense according to DVOA ratings. New York allowed Miami Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon a career-high 103 yards in their previous game.
Jeanty also functions as a receiver, holding the team lead with 34 receptions. He has accumulated 312 receiving yards and three touchdowns through the air. Head coach Klint Kubiak plans to utilize Jeanty more heavily in this game. The Jets rank 22nd in defending running backs in the passing game, creating an opening for Jeanty's secondary role.
The Raiders' offensive line has been a persistent issue this year. The unit ranks 31st in the NFL in adjusted line yards. Pass protection has also declined, increasing pressure on quarterback Kirk Cousins. Kubiak indicated that personnel changes are possible. He praised rookie third-round pick Trey Zuhn, who may start for the first time at the guard positions.
Cousins signed a contract with the Raiders for the veteran minimum salary of $1.3 million. He has thrown 16 touchdown passes, leading the league. The Raiders are absorbing $16.2 million of Geno Smith's salary from his previous deal with Las Vegas. Smith, who is starting for the Jets, declined to comment on his former team during interviews this week.
The Raiders released defensive tackle Jonah Laulu last week. Laulu recorded 86 tackles over his first two seasons with the franchise. The Tennessee Titans claimed him off waivers. The move reflects the team's preference for larger defensive linemen like JJ Pegues and Tim Keenan, who are both over 325 pounds.
Wide receiver Tre Tucker has emerged as a key target. He has 10 catches for 200 yards and three touchdowns in the last two games. His speed offers a threat downfield against the Jets' secondary. The Raiders aim to leverage the running game to control the pace and exploit New York's defensive gaps.
