A Goodsprings judge set bail at $25,000 for Natalie Rodriguez, who faces charges after a rollover crash killed her daughter. Rodriguez appeared via Zoom Tuesday, weeks after her October 4 arrest. The incident occurred near mile marker 21 on Interstate 15 in Jean.
The crash happened just after 6 a.m. when a gray Chevrolet Tahoe with California plates rolled over on the northbound side of the highway. Troopers found the vehicle on its side. An arrest report states that a juvenile female passenger was ejected into the southbound lanes and later pronounced dead. Rodriguez was at the scene holding a juvenile male passenger, whose condition has not been publicly updated as of Tuesday.
Court records indicate the state requested $100,000 in bail while the defense asked for $20,000. The judge split the difference, setting the amount at $25,000. Conditions include high-level electronic monitoring, a drug patch requirement, and a restriction on driving. Rodriguez also waived her right to a preliminary hearing within 15 days of her arrest.
According to the arrest report, Rodriguez told officials she had been driving overnight from Las Vegas to Ontario, California, and back. She admitted to using marijuana vape pens the day before the crash.
Rodriguez is scheduled to return to court on December 8 for a preliminary hearing.
