Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson have confirmed that Rush will return to the Las Vegas stage for a five-night residency at the Sphere next spring. The two founding members of the classic rock group announced the dates on Wednesday, marking a major return for the band following the passing of drummer Neil Peart. The performances are scheduled for May 21, 23, 26, 28, and 30, 2027.
The concerts will feature a setlist designed to celebrate the band's extensive catalog and its historical impact. According to the announcement, the shows will include fan favorites and greatest hits. Lee stated that the residency is intended to honor the legacy of Rush and the life of Peart, who served as the band's drummer and primary lyricist. The group will utilize the venue's full visual and audio capabilities for these specific dates.
Lee expressed his immediate enthusiasm for the Sphere when it was first proposed as a venue. He noted that the structure seemed ideal for the visual style of Rush's previous productions. "When I first heard of Sphere, I thought to myself, ‘wow, what a shame that RUSH is no longer touring, because this venue sounds tailor made for the kind of visual attitude with which we have always designed our shows,’” Lee said. He added that the band is actively developing new concepts to fit the space.
The group plans to expand its touring format for the residency. Lee said the band is working to create new material and performance ideas suited to the Sphere's unique environment. "We are presently working hard to expand our touring concepts and concoct some new madness to suit this incredible venue and musically perform the kind of show we’ve been doing in some of our ‘one off’ cities," Lee said. He specified that this would mean playing entire albums such as 2112 and Moving Pictures alongside other songs.
Lee and Lifeson, both inductees into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, will be joined by a new touring lineup for these dates. German drummer, composer, and producer Anika Nilles will handle drums, while keyboardist Loren Gold will provide additional instrumentation. Lee continues to play bass, keys, and vocals, while Lifeson handles guitar and vocals. The Sphere's immersive audio system and wraparound LED display will be central to the production.
Rush is currently in the middle of its Fifty Something tour, which has sold more than one million tickets across North America, South America, Europe, and the United Kingdom. The Sphere residency builds on this ongoing run of shows. For the new Las Vegas dates, the band will rely on the same core members and touring partners to deliver the full experience.
Ticket sales for the residency begin on Friday, November 13, at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. VIP and travel package sales start earlier, on Friday, November 6, at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. Subscribers to the Rush Backstage and Rush Newsletter will receive a two-hour exclusive window to purchase these packages.
