Henderson water park shuts after 12 years
Cowabunga Bay will close for good while its Summerlin sister park continues operations through 2027.

12 years of summer visits came to an end on Tuesday morning when Cowabunga Bay Vegas announced it would close permanently.
The Henderson facility has operated since 2014, serving as a local destination for families seeking aquatic recreation. The park confirmed the closure via email to customers, thanking visitors, families, and staff for their participation over the past decade.
The shutdown does not affect Cowabunga Canyon, the company's second location in Summerlin. That park will remain open for the 2027 season. In a letter signed by "Tu familia Cowabunga," management described the decision as difficult but did not specify the financial or operational reasons behind the closure.
The park stated that the Henderson facilities will be maintained and protected while owners evaluate plans for the site's future. A frequently asked questions section on the company's website addresses specific concerns for current customers. This includes details on 2027 season passes, combo passes, payment plans, refunds, unused tickets, and gift cards.
Management acknowledged that the news may disappoint families who made the park a summer tradition. The letter referenced children riding their first water slides and families returning year after year. The company noted that while the Henderson chapter is ending, the Las Vegas story is not.
Customers are directed to cowabungavegas.com and the company's social media accounts for future updates. When asked if any attractions from the Henderson site would move to Cowabunga Canyon, the park said it had no news to share at this time.
The announcement marks the end of an era for the Henderson location, which opened in 2014. The Summerlin park continues its regular schedule as the only remaining Cowabunga Bay venue in the Las Vegas metropolitan area.
