Gusts reaching 40 mph are forecast near Laughlin as a strong north wind moves through the Las Vegas Valley this weekend. The weather shift brings higher temperatures and active conditions on nearby waterways.

Temperatures will climb from a high of 69 degrees on Thursday to 73 degrees on Friday and 74 degrees on Saturday. Skies will remain mostly sunny during the weekend days. The north wind is expected to sustain speeds between 15 and 25 mph across the valley.

A Lake Wind Advisory is in effect from early Friday morning through Saturday afternoon. Stronger winds down the Colorado River Valley will create choppy conditions on Lake Mohave and Lake Havasu. Waves on these bodies of water are forecast to reach heights of 2 to 3 feet.

Conditions will calm down on Sunday as the wind eases. Highs will hold at 74 degrees on Sunday before rising to 75 degrees on Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday will see highs of 76 degrees under mostly sunny skies. The dry, mild stretch will continue into the middle of next week.
